Michael D. McManus is a 1978 graduate of Cleveland State University and has been a practicing CPA for over 40 years. He is a founder and the Managing Partner of McManus, Dosen & Co. Prior to establishing McManus, Dosen & Co. in 1985 Mr. McManus spent five years with the international accounting firm of Deloitte, Haskins & Sells (currently Deloitte & Touche) and two years as Director of Internal Audit for a large financial services corporation.

Mr. McManus has a broad range of professional experience providing audit, accounting, tax, control exams, business valuations, and advisory services to closely-held businesses, nonprofit organizations, governmental agencies, school districts, service organizations, trusts, and individuals. He has served clients in a variety of industries including: manufacturing, retail, real estate development and management, professional services, education, information technology consulting, construction, entertainment, community services, religious, and healthcare. Mr. McManus has provided a multitude of advisory services to the Firm’s clients over the years including: business valuations, contract negotiations, financial projections, tax planning, due diligence reviews, personal financial planning, and forensic accounting services in connection with fraud investigations. He has worked closely with both buyers and sellers in connection with business mergers and acquisitions. He has also assisted business owners with obtaining financing or venture capital. Mr. McManus leads the Firm's quality assurance program and, as Managing Partner, is responsible for all administrative aspects of the Firm and the quality of all reports issued.

Mr. McManus is licensed by the Accountancy Board of Ohio and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants, and The Executive Committee. Each of these organizations has continuing education requirements that ensure their members maintain appropriate knowledge to perform professional services. Mr. McManus has been qualified by the AICPA to perform peer reviews of other CPA firms to ensure that their work and systems of quality control meet the standards of the profession. He is also qualified to conduct government audits under the Uniform Guidance standards and the U.S. Department of HUD.

During the course of his career Mr. McManus has instructed seminars, taught college level classes, been the subject of media interviews, and published articles on a variety of topics in the field of accounting and taxation. He is considered to be one of Ohio's leading experts on accounting and control issues for nonprofit organizations.

Mike is a frequent speaker at the high school and college levels on careers in accounting and to business groups on a host of financial topics. He and his wife, Suzanne, live in Strongsville where they raised their two sons. Mike enjoys sports (both as a participant and a spectator), is a history buff, and is active in community organizations.

Michael Dosen is a 1982 graduate of Cleveland State University and has been a practicing CPA since 1985. He is a partner of the Firm. Prior to the formation of the Firm in 1985, Mr. Dosen spent two years with a Cleveland area accounting firm.

Mr. Dosen has a broad range of professional experience providing accounting, tax, and business advisory services to closely held businesses and individuals. He has served clients in various industries including manufacturing, retail, real estate development and management, professional services, information technology consulting, construction, and healthcare services. Mr. Dosen has provided advisory services including negotiations, valuations, financial projections, and tax planning in connection with mergers and acquisitions on behalf of clients on both the buying side and selling side.

Mr. Dosen is licensed by the Accountancy Board of Ohio and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants. Each of these organizations has continuing education requirements that ensure their members maintain appropriate knowledge to perform professional services.

Mike is an avid golfer and is active in both civic and religious organizations.

Ruth Schwachenwald has been the Firm's Office Manager since 2000. She has over 30 years of administrative management experience. She and her staff are responsible for all of the day-to-day administrative activities of the Firm. In addition, she coordinates the assembly and issuance of all financial statements and tax returns prepared by the Firm, serves as the Firm's network administrator, events coordinator, manager of billings and collections, and assists the Managing Partner with certain aspects of the Firm's management and productivity analysis.

Ruth enjoys spending time with family and friends and is a lifelong Cleveland sports fan.

Yvette Wypasek joined McManus, Dosen & Co. in January 2011 as an Adminstrative Assistant. She has over ten years of office support experience and almost 30 years of customer service skills spanning the professional, educational, and retail industries. Her responsibilites with the Firm include the final assembly of financial statements and tax returns, general secretarial work, and assistance to staff and clients.

Yvette and her husband Jason live in Parma and are active members at St. Charles Borromeo Parish. They keep busy with various fundraising events and are the proud parents of three and grandparents of six.

Rick Dacko has been a staff accountant with the Firm since 1999. Mr. Dacko received his Business Administration Degree with a major in Accounting from Baldwin Wallace College.

Mr. Dacko has a broad range of professional experience providing accounting, tax, and audit services to closely held businesses, nonprofit organizations, and individuals. He has served clients in various industries including manufacturing, retail, distribution, professional services, transportation, real estate, construction, and healthcare services.

Mr. Dacko is licensed by the Accountancy Board of Ohio and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Mary Jo Diekman, CPA, rejoined McManus, Dosen & Co. in May 2021 after having originally joined the firm in 2004.  Mary Jo has a broad range of professional experience including extensive experience in both public accounting and industry financial management.

Mary Jo started her career as an auditor with the international accounting firm EY and since then has held management and executive roles in the insurance and education sectors with responsibility for all aspects of financial management, including finance and accounting, internal and external reporting, long-range and capital planning, budgeting, business affairs, and cash management.

She has public accounting experience, including several years with McManus, Dosen & Co., focused on providing clients with assurance, tax, and advisory services. Her new role at the firm includes that of Audit Leader with responsibility for keeping staff members apprised of the latest professional attestation developments. She is a licensed CPA by the Accountancy Board of Ohio and maintains that license through an ongoing education program that includes meeting the governmental auditing requirements.

Mary Jo graduated from Bowling Green State University with a BSBA in Accounting.  She enjoys bicycling and spending time outdoors, and is a dedicated Cleveland sports fan.

Andrei Erchul started at McManus, Dosen & Co. in March of 2022. 

Jamie is a 1979 graduate of Cleveland State University and has been working with McManus, Dosen & Co. since 1987. His professional experience inlcudes: audits, reviews, and compilations of financial statements; accounting and control system design; personnel and financial planning; tax return preparation and planning; and business combination consultative services. His industry experience is broad and includes: construction, manufacturing, leasing, non-profit organiztions, and employee benefit plans.

Jamie is a member of the AICPA, OSCPA, and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. He is the Committee Chairperson of the local Elyria Boy Scout troup, a long-time Cleveland sports fan, and has had extensive involvement in other community and non-profit organizations.

Michelle McManus joined McManus, Dosen & Co. in December of 2013. Michelle is a 2008 graduate of the University of Akron where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. Michelle worked for a regional public accounting firm in Akron, Ohio and then as a private industry accountant for a local law firm. Her responsibilities with the Firm include monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting and tax work for closely held businesses in a variety of industries.

Michelle and her husband, Bryan, live in Brooklyn Heights with their two young children. They enjoy spending time outdoors and with their families.

Barbara is a 1996 graduate of The University of Akron with a degree in Business Administration and a major in Accounting. After passing the CPA exam in 1997, she began her career in public accounting. Her work experience prior to receiving her degree includes 10 years working in the accounting department for a Medina County manufacturer.

Prior to joining McManus, Dosen & Co. in 2007 Barbara worked for a local CPA firm for 9 years where she learned to develop close relationships with her clients by looking out for their best interests. Her duties with McManus, Dosen & Co. include performing audits, reviews, and compilations; preparing both business and personal tax returns; and being accessible to provide accounting services and advice at various levels for a diverse range of clients. She has also received specialized training on the accounting, auditing, and financnial reporting requirements of HUD subsidized rental projects. Additionally, Barbara is the Firm's specialist in the taxation of trusts, gifts, and estates of all sizes.

Barbara is licensed by the Accountancy Board of Ohio and is a member of both the Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. She maintains her level of expertise by fulfilling the requirements of continuing education and keeping current with accounting journal articles.

Nick began his career at McManus, Dosen & Co. in 2013. He is a graduate of Ohio Northern University where he received his Bachelor of Business Administration with a major in Accounting. 

Nick is actively involved in all areas of the Firm's practice. He serves as a team member on many of the audits performed by McManus, Dosen & Co., assists many of the Firm's business clients with the closing of their books, and prepares tax returns of all types.

Nick is an avid golfer and lives with his wife, Tricia, in Amherst.
